After Minister Clarence and Deaconess Elva Ellis had their sixth child, due to health concerns the doctors advised them not to have any more children. So from birth, their seventh child Neil Clarence came into the world defying odds and confounding the enemy. This was to be a recurring theme in the life of one ordained from the foundation of the world as a forerunner in the Kingdom of God.
Bishop Ellis organized Mount Tabor Union Baptist Church in February of 1987 with thirteen members and since that time God has blessed this work of his faithful servant tremendously. Mount Tabor (now Full Gospel Baptist Church), is one of the fastest growing churches in The Bahamas; and over the years the Ministry has emerged as the largest and most powerful body of believers in the country. This is due in part to a membership of approximately 7,000; the dynamic, prophetic, bold, life changing messages delivered by Bishop Ellis, that are even regularly quoted in the countries House of Parliament and the profoundly practical, ground breaking style of ministry demonstrated by Mount Tabor, which has resulted in members being blessed with everything from brand new homes to educational scholarships and the provision of a group medical insurance plan.
Since its inception, Bishop Ellis has been involved in the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International and on May 3rd, 1995, he was consecrated as Bishop of Foreign Ministries. An outstanding and anointed leader, Bishop Ellis’ diligence and commitment to the Fellowship has resulted in his being appointed to the newly created position of Chairman of the College of Bishops. Upon his appointment to the chair of the College of Bishops, he relinquished his position as Bishop of Foreign Ministries; however, he still serves as Regional Bishop of Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship – Bahamas. Most recently, he was elevated to the position of 2nd Presiding Bishop of this International Fellowship.
Bishop Ellis is passionate about the Word of God and its ability to transform lives. This is clearly demonstrated both in his fresh style of ministry and in the profound yet practical books that he has authored. Along with the obvious anointing of the Holy Spirit upon his life, Bishop Ellis completed the Florida extension of the New York School of Theology’s Masters Degree in Pastoral Ministries program in June of l989. He is a much sought after preacher and to date has preached throughout the Bahamas, in various Caribbean countries, in North America, Germany and Africa. He is also the author of nine books:
- THE POWER OF THE BLOOD
- UNDERSTANDING DEMON
- A CHECK UP FROM THE NECK UP
- A LOOK AROUND FROM THE SHOULDER DOWN
- APPRECIATING YOUR PERSONAL VALUE
- GAINING ENTRANCE INTO YOUR PROMISE LAND
- LIVING IN YOUR PROMISED LAND
- BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH
- SURVIVING THE CRISIS
- FASTING FOR EFFECTIVE RESULTS(his latest work)
Though continually busy and consistently seeking new ways to promote the Kingdom and elevate the Body of Christ, Bishop Ellis is very family oriented, whether it be the regular domino nights with his Ministers and Deacons or special family dinner dates with his wife and children, he determinedly carves out time to spend with both his spiritual and physical family. Bishop Ellis is married to the former Patrice Michelle Johnson and they, along with their children, reside in West New Providence on the beautiful island of Nassau in The Bahamas |
